Your Apache Trail tour begins the moment we pick you up from your Scottsdale/Phoenix area resort. Our experienced Tour Guides will be at your side throughout the day to answer questions and share their considerable knowledge of the state of Arizona. You will be traveling on the same route as the early explorers of the Apache trail and into the rugged wilderness of the Tonto National forest.
Departs Tuesdays & Thursdays- $130.00
The Superstition Mountains will serve as the backdrop for our easy and informative Sonoran Desert walk. Over thirty different plants, desert birds and mammal species are encountered along this scenic trail. These desert inhabitants played an important role in the daily lives of the Native Americans of our Sonoran Desert.
We capture the feeling of the Old West with a visit to historic Tortilla Flat. Originally a stage stop in 1904, it is now a remnant of an Old West town and home to six people. While at Tortilla Flat, you will learn the history of the Superstition Mountains, hear about the Lost Dutchman, and other gold legends.
Our journey back in time continues as we board the double decks of Dolly Steamboat for a 90 minute narrated tour of Canyon Lake. This re-created paddle wheel river boat boasts on-board refreshments and a climate controlled cabin. There will be opportunities to capture memorable photos along this trip through the incredible rock formations of Canyon Lake. You will be up close to wildlife such as desert bighorn sheep, bald eagles, deer, javelina, and many species of water fowl.
Our tour will wrap up with a visit to the valley's favorite ghost town... Goldfield Ghost Town. Here you will have lunch at Mammoth Steak House, see historic buildings and hear the extensive mining history of the town. Some days you might even get to meet Cowboy Dan, the proprietor and hear this immigrant speak strongly of his love of this country. Excellent exhibits of the mining tools that the old timers used to extract gold and silver are everywhere Before leaving this ghost town you won't want to miss viewing the desert reptile display and enjoying the taste of prickly pear ice cream. Following our visit to Goldfield Ghost Town we will make our way back to your local area Phoenix/Scottsdale resort to conclude your Apache Trail Tour.
